˹Remember˺ when they said ˹to one another˺, “Surely Joseph and his brother ˹Benjamin˺ are more beloved to our father than we, even though we are a group of so many.1 Indeed, our father is clearly mistaken.

{ إِذْ قَالُوا ْ} فيما بينهم: { لَيُوسُفُ وَأَخُوهُ ْ} بنيامين، أي: شقيقه، وإلا فكلهم إخوة. { أَحَبُّ إِلَى أَبِينَا مِنَّا وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌْ} أي: جماعة، فكيف يفضلهما علينا بالمحبة والشفقة، { إِنَّ أَبَانَا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ ْ} أي: لفي خطأ بيِّن، حيث فضلهما علينا من غير موجب نراه، ولا أمر نشاهده.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
