Other messengers had already been ridiculed before you, but I delayed the disbelievers ˹for a while˺ then seized them. And how ˹horrible˺ was My punishment!

قوله تعالى : ولقد استهزئ برسل من قبلك فأمليت للذين كفروا ثم أخذتهم تقدم معنى الاستهزاء في " البقرة " ومعنى الإملاء في " آل عمران " أي سخر بهم ، وأزري عليهم ; فأمهلت الكافرين مدة ليؤمن من كان في علمي أنه يؤمن منهم ; فلما حق القضاء أخذتهم بالعقوبة .فكيف كان عقاب أي فكيف رأيتم ما صنعت بهم ، فكذلك أصنع بمشركي قومك .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
