In fact, the Hour will take them by surprise, leaving them stunned. So they will not be able to avert it, nor will it be delayed from them.

بل تأتيهم بغتة أي فجأة يعني القيامة . وقيل : العقوبة . وقيل : النار فلا يتمكنون من حيلة فتبهتهم قال الجوهري : بهته بهتا أخذه بغتة ، قال الله تعالى : بل تأتيهم بغتة فتبهتهم وقال الفراء : فتبهتهم أي تحيرهم ، يقال : بهته يبهته إذا واجهه بشيء يحيره . وقيل : فتفجأهم . فلا يستطيعون ردها أي صرفها عن ظهورهم . ولا هم ينظرون أي لا يمهلون ويؤخرون لتوبة واعتذار .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
