In fact, the Hour will take them by surprise, leaving them stunned. So they will not be able to avert it, nor will it be delayed from them.

وقوله - سبحانه - ( بَلْ تَأْتِيهِم بَغْتَةً فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ ) . . . بيان لسرعة قيام الساعة ، ومفاجأتها لهم . أى : بل تأتيهم الساعة الموعود بها ، وبعذابهم فيها ، ومفاجأة من غير شعور بمجيئها " فتبهتهم " أى : فتدهشهم وتحيرهم ، والبهت : الانقطاع والحيرة ." فلا يستطيعون ردها " أى : فلا يستطيعون دفع الساعة أو ردها عنهم ( وَلاَ هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ ) أى : ولا هم يمهلون لتوبة أو معذرة .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
