˹Other˺ messengers had already been ridiculed before you ˹O Prophet˺, but those who mocked them were overtaken by what they used to ridicule.

ولما ذكر استهزاءهم برسوله بقولهم:{ أَهَذَا الَّذِي يَذْكُرُ آلِهَتَكُمْ ْ} سلاه بأن هذا دأب الأمم السالفة مع رسلهم فقال: { وَلَقَدِ اسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِالَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا مِنْهُمْ ْ} أي: نزل بهم { مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ ْ} أي: نزل بهم العذاب، وتقطعت عنهم الأسباب، فليحذر هؤلاء، أن يصيبهم ما أصاب أولئك المكذبين.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
