If it is difficult for someone to repay a debt, postpone it until a time of ease. And if you waive it as an act of charity, it will be better for you, if only you knew.

وإن كان المدين غير قادر على السداد فأمهلوه إلى أن ييسِّر الله له رزقًا فيدفع إليكم مالكم، وإن تتركوا رأس المال كله أو بعضه وتضعوه عن المدين فهو أفضل لكم، إن كنتم تعلمون فَضْلَ ذلك، وأنَّه خير لكم في الدنيا والآخرة.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
