وقالوا نحن أكثر أموالا وأولادا [ ص: 274 ] أي فضلنا عليكم بالأموال والأولاد ، ولو لم يكن ربكم راضيا بما نحن عليه من الدين والفضل لم يخولنا ذلك . وما نحن بمعذبين لأن من أحسن إليه فلا يعذبه ، فرد الله عليهم قولهم وما احتجوا به من الغنى فقال لنبيه صلى الله عليه وسلم :
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
