Those before them ˹also˺ rejected ˹the truth˺, then the torment came upon them from where they least expected.

( كَذَّبَ الذين مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ) من أمم الكفر والضلال ( فَأَتَاهُمُ العذاب ) المقدر لكل أمة من أمم الكفر .( مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ ) أى : من جهة التى لا تخطر لهم على بال ، أن العذاب يأتيهم منها ، فيكون وقعه عليهم أشد وأفظع .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
