Or have We given them a Book ˹for proof˺, before this ˹Quran˺, to which they are holding firm?

قوله تعالى : أم آتيناهم كتابا من قبله فهم به مستمسكون .هذا معادل لقوله : أشهدوا خلقهم والمعنى : أحضروا خلقهم أم آتيناهم كتابا من قبله ، أي : من قبل القرآن بما ادعوه ، فهم به متمسكون يعملون بما فيه .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
