And who could be more astray than those who call upon others besides Allah—˹others˺ that cannot respond to them until the Day of Judgment, and are ˹even˺ unaware of their calls?

قوله تعالى : ومن أضل ممن يدعو من دون الله من لا يستجيب له إلى يوم القيامة وهم عن دعائهم غافلون .قوله تعالى : ومن أضل أي لا أحد أضل وأجهل ممن يدعو من دون الله من لا يستجيب له إلى يوم القيامة وهي الأوثان . وهم عن دعائهم غافلون يعني لا يسمعون ولا [ ص: 172 ] يفهمون ، فأخرجها وهي جماد مخرج ذكور بني آدم ، إذ قد مثلتها عبدتها بالملوك والأمراء التي تخدم .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
