Had they been patient until you could come out to them, it would have certainly been better for them. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

فأدب العبد، عنوان عقله، وأن الله مريد به الخير، ولهذا قال:{ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ صَبَرُوا حَتَّى تَخْرُجَ إِلَيْهِمْ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ } أي: غفور لما صدر عن عباده من الذنوب، والإخلال بالآداب، رحيم بهم، حيث لم يعاجلهم بذنوبهم بالعقوبات والمثلات.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
