This is because they believed and then abandoned faith. Therefore, their hearts have been sealed, so they do not comprehend.

قوله تعالى : ذلك بأنهم آمنوا ثم كفروا فطبع على قلوبهم فهم لا يفقهونهذا إعلام من الله تعالى بأن المنافق كافر . أي أقروا باللسان ثم كفروا بالقلب . وقيل : [ ص: 115 ] نزلت الآية في قوم آمنوا ثم ارتدوافطبع على قلوبهم أي ختم عليها بالكفرفهم لا يفقهون الإيمان ولا الخير . وقرأ زيد بن علي " فطبع الله على قلوبهم " .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
