Then when he saw the moon rising, he said, “This one is my Lord!” But when it disappeared, he said, “If my Lord does not guide me, I will certainly be one of the misguided people.”

{ فَلَمَّا رَأَى الْقَمَرَ بَازِغًا } أي: طالعا، رأى زيادته على نور الكواكب ومخالفته لها { قَالَ هَذَا رَبِّي } تنزلا. { فَلَمَّا أَفَلَ قَالَ لَئِنْ لَمْ يَهْدِنِي رَبِّي لَأَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الضَّالِّينَ } فافتقر غاية الافتقار إلى هداية ربه، وعلم أنه إن لم يهده الله فلا هادي له، وإن لم يعنه على طاعته، فلا معين له.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
