قال هود عليه السلام: إنما العلم بوقت مجيء ما وُعدتم به من العذاب عند الله، وإنما أنا رسول الله إليكم، أبلغكم عنه ما أرسلني به، ولكني أراكم قومًا تجهلون في استعجالكم العذاب، وجرأتكم على الله.
