Pero la respuesta de su pueblo no fue otra que: “Expúlsenlos de la ciudad, pues son gente que mantiene su pureza [negándose a actuar como nosotros]”.

قوله تعالى وما كان جواب قومه إلا أن قالوا أخرجوهم من قريتكم إنهم أناس يتطهرونقوله تعالى وما كان جواب قومه إلا أن قالوا أخرجوهم أي لوطا وأتباعه .ومعنى يتطهرون عن الإتيان في هذا المأتى . يقال : تطهر الرجل أي تنزه عن الإثم . قال قتادة : عابوهم والله بغير عيب .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
