È quel che dicevano coloro che li precedettero, ma ciò che fecero non giovò loro;

( قد قالها الذين من قبلهم ) أي : قد قال هذه المقالة وزعم هذا الزعم وادعى هذه الدعوى ، كثير ممن سلف من الأمم ( فما أغنى عنهم ما كانوا يكسبون ) أي : فما صح قولهم ولا منعهم جمعهم وما كانوا يكسبون .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
