قال تعالى منكرًا على إبليس تَرْكَ السجود: ما منعك ألا تسجد إذ أمرتك؟ فقال إبليس: أنا أفضل منه خلقًا; لأني مخلوق من نار، وهو مخلوق من طين. فرأى أن النار أشرف من الطين.
